Tesla Meets Einstein
Excerpt from 'Tesla's Frequency', my novel in progress: Nikola Tesla meets with Einstein and other physicists at a cafe, and they throw some ideas around. Time: early 1940s. (This is a work in progress. If any knowledgeable folks find any errors regarding these scientists or their theories, let me know.)
“ I have discovered a cosmic force... “ Nikola said. “It would give give mankind free energy and perhaps allow a crossover to other dimensions.”
“Are you referring to the power from splitting the atom?”
“Oh, no. It is an energy source much stronger, which pervades the universe. I call it the aether, but it may be the same as what others call Plasma.”
Einstein nodded. “Some of us think that sub-atomic particles may be this source.” He rested his chin on a finger. “So. You wish to cross the dimensions, eh? Are you taking into account the curvature of space?”
“Ah. I've disputed your theory of curved space,” said Nikola. “I prefer to speak of a substance pervading the cosmos, a sort of...luminiferous aether. It has certain qualities: perhaps it can be bent or stretched by creating opposing force fields, shaping and bending the continuum.” Niko completed a complex drawing, a series of interlocking spirals and fractals, labeling the voltage of certain points. "That would allow us to step from one place to another that is thousands of light years away.”
“Mein Gott.” Einstein just stared. “You've got something there. The papers once asked me how it felt to be the smartest man in the world. I told them, 'You'll have to ask Nikola Tesla.'”

"Allow me to introduce my colleagues," said Einstein. "Theoretical physicists Neils Bohr, Erwin Schroedinger. . And Lise Meitner, atomic physicist. Colleagues, this is...Nikola, a friend from Serbia.”
Neils Bohr cleared his throat. “According to Heisenberg's principle, there is some uncertainty in quantum measurements. Yet I am quite certain I know who you are. The most brilliant genius of the age, but we have not heard from you in many years.”
Schroedinger gave Niko a searching glance. “I understand the authorities are looking for a man of your description. So, as a thought experiment in quantum mechanics, let us consider that you are simultaneously here and not here.”
Einstein cleared his throat. “Mr. Tesla, perhaps you can weigh in on a controversy. Dr. Heisenburg believes that due to quantum entanglement, a particle can affect another particle far away. I reject this concept of 'spooky action at a distance'. What do you say?”
Niko wiped the edge of his tea cup and took 3 sips. “It would work if the particles were linked outside of the normal space and time.”
“Interesting.You support the multi-universe theory!”
“Wouldn't it be grand,” said Lise Meitner, “to step across and visit other worlds. Perhaps better ones than this.”

Neils Bohr spoke up. ”I hear that after the last war, a certain brilliant scientist claimed to have invented an ultimate weapon...a Death Ray.” He looked right at Niko. “We could sure use that weapon now. I wonder what happened to it?”
“Perhaps it was just a bluff?” said Schroedinger. “Until it is launched, none of us knows. One could say that the Death Ray simultaneously exists, and does not exist.”
“I no longer believe the Death Ray, or even an atomic bomb, would end war,” Niko said. “Someone I once knew said there is an evil inclination in man. Perhaps the only hope of peace would be to alter mankind's brain.”
Lise Meitner laughed. “Do tell! Have you a device for that?”
Niko cleared his throat. “We know that radio messages are composed of frequencies; why not thoughts as well?” He picked up a coffee mug and turned it. “Those who can detect and reproduce the right frequencies, would be able to control others' thoughts.”
“Amazing! Have you built this thought-radio?”
“It has been done,” Niko said, “by enemies of humanity.”
“Mein Gott! Hitler has it...?” they said, almost as one.
“Not quite yet, but others of evil intent may put it in his hands.” Niko put the coffee mug down and straightened. “This discussion has helped me focus my thoughts. It's not enough just to build a mirror-phase oscillator to block their devices. I must find the proper harmonic so that I too can influence behavior...erase war from men's thoughts. It will be a true Peace Ray.”
